Get Wordsy on your blog, site or homepage

We've been getting loads of requests to provide tighter integration with people's websites. This is 'in the works' as they say, we ask you to have a few more weeks patience. In the mean time, take a look at this widget we've created which you can place on your site, blog or homepage: Click here to check it out at WidgetBox. If you don't like the colour or size, you are also free to change any of those - or you can just use the one we've created for you.

Here's what our pre-made widget looks like:

Update: make sure to check out the barebones widgets if you don't like the Flash-flava!

If you had a Wordsy account you could comment on this blog entry. Get an account now!

I'll play with this this evening.

How about a "share this on Wordsy" integration feature?

Played with it. It doesn't play well with my site.

a) it uses flash
b) the wide version is too wide for my columns and the narrow version is too narrow for them.

I like the idea though. I may play around with doing it a different way.

Hey Rat,

Thanks for the feedback.

If you click on 'Get Widget' and then 'Get Widget Code' you can actually choose between a Flash Version or a Javascript version.

I'll look into other widget providers. I remember seeing one where you can change the height and width of the widget.

Let me know how you're getting along.

Hans

The Javascript version just embeds the same flash objects in a different way.

The big problem with the flash is that I can't use CSS to massage the widths and fonts and stuff to match my site.

Well, and I don't like flash. I'm a standards purist....

I can put up a Wordsy widget a different way, just don't have the time today.

Ah, thanks for the info on that. We'll keep looking around. We'll probably end up making one for ourselves in the end - I just hoped this might be a quick fix. It might work for some people though. However, if Flash doesn't work for your site then you'll require a bit more patience.

Sure, you can always grab the Wordsy RSS feed and parse it with JavaScript to display a list of recent articles. Thing is, most user do not have the skills to that.

If you come up with something like that, please share it with us.

Using the service from Feed2js.org I created two javascripts you can put on your site. They're quite basic, but will work fine. Links to the embeddable text files:

And here's what they look like on Wordsy. The design will adapt to your site.

Number 1: 5 items plus text

Number 2: 10 items, no text

Let me know how these work out in the comments!

We hear ya! It's what we're working on!

as I discovered when I tried to add Blogrush to my blog, wordpress does not permit live feed badges on their site. But I should be able to use option 2 above in an RSS widget. Keep me posted.

Take a look at what I did with my site on the front page. I'm still playing around with it, but I have the basics working.
