In sort of response to the email Richard and Hans discussed in this weeks podcast from Michael regarding reading books vs watching the movie - Read this book now!! The movie comes out soon and I think its gonna suck but the book is great!! Far better than Wicked, which I'm sorry I ever started.

Cognitive psychologist Donald Norman has written a book called "Things that Make Us Smart" which contains some reflections over how people perceive and use things. The book is great, highly recommended but the "book vs movie" discussion jogged my memory of one particular part where I recall Donald Norman reasoning about experiential and reflective entertainment. Books are reflective, TV is most often experiential and good movies are both. His conclusion, if I recall correctly, was that people today are too obsessed with experiental rather than reflective media. There's room for both but they should be balanced and this imbalance we see today is making people less prone to question or try to understand the world.
