Zounds! Swearing (in fantasy)
Submitted by kingrat on Sun, 2007-09-23 18:53.Writer Joe Abercrombie comes out in favor of using real swear words in fantasy novels, despite the "old-time" settings. He doesn't think 'by the holy orb of Zalxoz I will destroy thee!' has as much oomph as 'f**k you!'

My friend had me buy Abercrombie's first fantasy (I think). I haven't gotten round to reading it yet. I'm working through Jack Vance right now.
I hate it when they censor cursing... cursing is real, it's strong, it's honest and it's needed.
